For anyone who is touring Europe this summer, I can recommend a friend of mine who has a hotel in the Harz mountains, have a look at his web site.
His name is Simon and he runs the place with his wife and daughter.
All I can say is give it a try, you will not be disappointed. All the details reference ride outs etc whilst there is on his site. Its about 320 miles from Calais. The rooms are very good, most with views, he also has two apartments, spa, and nice bar laden with all the quality beers you could ask for.
There is a swimming pool in the town which is filled with mineral waters not the usual chlorinated crap, and the village is nice and clean. They have a meeting point for bikers in Torfthous,( dont know how to spell it, see his web site.)
