Trans European Challenge

Bill Allan is a man with a mission. Having served in the Royal Marines and a tank regiment during the 70s and 80s, he has done more than his bit for us and his country. Unfortunately successive governments have done very little to ease the plight of ex-service personnel who have fallen on hard times. Most MPs seem more interested in fiddling every last expense out of us, the taxpayer, than using our money for more deserving causes. If these men and women didn’t put their lives on the line, we wouldn’t enjoy the freedoms we currently take for granted. It’s as simple as that...

When Bill discovered up to 1000 people who have served their country are sleeping rough on the streets of London each night, with many turning to drugs and alcohol, he decided to do something about it. Starting with a 1995 Yamaha TDM, plenty of enthusiasm and a route, Bill plans to ride to the border of Iraq and back to raise funds for and raise the profile of The Army Benevolent Fund. When South East Biker heard of his trip, we decided to help in any way we could.

The Challenge begins on May 29th 2010 in Croydon. Over the following three weeks Bill and his TDM will cover 6,475 miles travelling via fourteen countries, this will be on his own with no back up. What can you do? As an individual, maybe offer some sponsorship or service. As a business, anything large or small will help. Bill is making a DVD including the preparation for the trip. There will be plenty of scope for promotion, from the website to logos on the bike and kit. Bill will be appearing with his bike at several bike events over the next few months so will have a high profile amongst bikers.

Equipment needed or sponsored includes petrol, medical insurance, breakdown cover, first aid kit, bulb kit, biker tool kit, tent and sleeping bag, tail rack and box, panniers and navigation aids such as sat nav and maps.

If you can help in any way, contact Bill via his website or call us at SEB and we will put you in touch.

Bill Allan contemplates his trip to Iraq with his TDM. He aims to raise between £25,000 to £50,000. To date, sponsorship is approaching £2,000 but he is confident he can meet his target.

I want to go faster, I want to go faster..
