Here is one for all you techs out there. My bike is not being very well at the moment. I thought initially that I was having a problem with a slipping clutch and people that I spoke with seemed to agree and so my course of action was going to be change oil as that could help / solve but yesterday I did some analysing on my way home and I now think I have a more serious problem and so eager to hear what people think and any sugegstions.

The bike is an 02 ZX6r 636 A1P - My diagnosis is that it only slips in 3rd Gear, when getting into the gear if you hold revs it is generally ok but it you look to increase speed it slips (feeling like it missed a notch in the chain for example) but it will then pull to full revs without skipping again and this is what confuses me!!

If I stay in third gear and release the revs and then accelerate again it will slip, but only the once until I release the throttle again.

It is only 3rd gear as I have said, have just replaced chain and sprockets as well. Having alook around a bit there seems to be similar and the diagnosis was a bent fork of some description int eh gears or a brocken tooth. It appears the options are take the engine out, remove teh gears box, open it up and resove whatever it is but at garage rates this would cost an easy grand +, alternatively replace the engine which would be faster to complete.

Would people agree with the diagnosis? The bit that confuses me is that if there was a tooth missing then surely the slip would be every time it revolved would it not?

I am in no way a mechanic minded person and so would appreciate peoples thoughts!!

I want to go faster, I want to go faster..
