Following on from the discussion in the thread about the BMF show I thought it would be good to start a thread on what people would LIKE TO SEE at a show. I am about to launch a new motorcycle website for help finding people, features events etc for wherever you are or are going to. When the site builds in popularity and more bikers are using it then far far far far far on the bike of my mind (that was a good type) it would be great to run an event.

With that partially in mind it would be great to know what people would want to have at a Good event as there seems to be many samo samo events.

You have to have stalls and kit etc as well as bike sellers at an event as although we can buy anything on line now, it is still nice to see what you are buying and although people offer "Show Specials" that tend to be more expensive than buying online it is nice to buy from an actual physical company!

I would also personally like to have some events of interest such as speed trials but for me I want things to try such as tester bikes, go karts, wheelie machine, mini moto etc...... to make it fun and memorable!! Laugh LOL Laugh

Decent food such as hog roast and a BBQ offering burger rather then ONLY burger fans etc.....Blink

What do you think???? Your Thoughts and views??Confused Confused

I want to go faster, I want to go faster..

For those out there looking for a new challenge, to lose weight or to just learn something new then have you thought about Taekwon Do? Hear is my Taekwon Do Training Diary as it is a great thing to take up. Great excercise, ethos as well as self defense.

Great idea, one point reference stalls, I mentioned that the NEC was a dumping ground effectively for old gear at high street prices. I don't buy on line clothing as its a pain in the arse to send it back if its the wrong size, but to buy something from Birmingham and pay high street prices or even more , after they have claimed special show prices well who's shittin who? Why lie? Thats why I never buy clothing etc from a show. Support your local dealers ya never know when your gonna need them.
Yes we need a show that you inter-act with, the wheelie machine I saw at Pheonix motorcycles the other month looked fun, but it wasn't running at the time. Mini-moto racing should be fun, hill climbs, or time trials great ideas, make it a weekend and have some decent evening entertainment and your on to a winner, throw in some camping and a fund raising BBQ.I'll have 4 tickets please.....BigGrin

I think when doing the first one where would need to be an element of keeping simeple stupid. I would propose therefore not to do the camping and overnight and party as that creates a new level of complications, costs and more. I would propose to make it a bloody good day with lots to do and see and then maybe build on that if there was sign of interest.

Would you agree with that or lose interest?

A good idea to start small, hire somewhere cheap like from a friendly farmer. Make it a kind of invitation only event ie forum members, SEB members etc. Run a few interactive events and keep it low key. As we know, a full show is a nightmare because of planning consents, health and safety, insurance and all the other costs that spiral out of control. A "private event" would be the place to start. I know a couple of clubs who use fields at the back of pubs and then use it as a base for ride-outs etc, lay on a couple of bands etc. I don't think people are too worried about traders stalls.

Right on, I know a couple of places that would be interested, including the 1066 cafe which has a hall, large carpark, camping area and is on the A21, there is also a place in Horsebridge which the BSA owners use for their events with a pub attached, maybe some camping. Its a start. Will be happy to help out. Let me know.BigGrin

This was a theory and is suddenly turning into some element of reality!!! Maybe we should look to have a small event??? If so then what do we do if it is on a smaller scale. The goal is to make some money or at least not lose any and so maybe look at the 1066 cafe especially if they are eager to build up a biker following and is easy to find?

Magnum - do you fancy a meet up and rumble over there (or meet there) to see the place and maybe talk to the man and see what options there are, if we were to do something then I would be looking to get it quite active for people to enjoy it and make it more exciting then all the other events. From my perspective I would be looking to brand along the lines of my new site which is that you can find anything you need for a bike in one place for your area and so want it to be something different and fun.

Fancy a ride over some time?

Yeah would love to take a ride over, the guy Dan who runs it would be very accomodating, I went to the monthly custom car and bike meet ,admittedly early last night, but there was a strong showing as we left GT40, loads of model T's with the obligatory massive V8s, a bel-air, couple of chevys, and yes a Harley. So as and when you like. I might suggest a Saturday as he shuts about 6 ish unless there is an event on, also its a good excuse to get out at the weekend, 'darling just have to chec a venue, yes its in Paris I know, but its for the best you can understand?'

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry missed that last post, unfortunately work calls, struggle to make the meets during the week, but spend as much time out during the week.
Maybe we can meet up when a ride comes this way.... or if you fancy a weekend ride over this way?
