I have a question then. I ride my zx6r all year round, this is the first winter I am riding it in and so I was wondering the best way of keeping the bike going for as long as possible all healthy like??Cool

I was at Bike Smart the other day and one of the guys said that he sprays his bike all over (obviously not panels etc) with WD40 and it basically stops the bike from rusting. He then rubbed his part of the bottom of the bike (oo err vicar!) and showed that the it looked shiny and new underneath with no metal damage. Laugh Laugh

This is great news and I will be running off to get some. Do other people do this or are there any other great plans???

I am of course looking for minimal effort as I am the laziest git in the world with my bikeLove

What do you guys and gals do??

Scottoiler FS 365 corrosion protective spray is very good, just don't get any on your brake disks!!!!

Wash your bike as often as possible to get rid of the salt. I spray it with Mucoff, hose it down using a softish brush (a jet wash can be too powerful) I then use the Scotoiler FS365, great stuff! Keep an eye on the chain, it will normally need lubing a couple of times a week. Bikes aren't made with winter in mind so frequent cleaning is the only answer.

Alrit Tiger and Kwakaman there is clearly love of the clean bike out there! Muc off has always been tempting as it looks serious and a bit cool! There seems to be loads of types though so which is the one to get? I have an amasing ability to choose the wrong type.

Its a late reply , but P365 is the best out there, I have used since it first came out, and love it.As Kwakaman and Tiger Tunstill confirm, look after the chain and also a little drop of 3 in 1 oil in the key barrels on the fuel tank and ignition to keep them sweet.

Muck off or Gunk will do the trick, also I use Crystal Glo as the afterwash polish its great and it gives some UV protection to the paint work.

Again - a strange time to reply as (hopefully!) all the road salt has gone.
I use stuff called ACF-50 which is similar but supposedly better than WD40.
I put it on all the alloy / metal parts of the bike (not discs of course) then wash it off with Autoglym bike cleaner. I've used it for a a few years and have always had good results.

Not the cheapest option but it works for me!
