NEW-STYLE AVERAGE speed cameras are to be placed into 20mph residential zones in the New Year, in a bid to enforce new inner city limits.

Camden, Southwark and Waltham Forest will be among eight London Boroughs to pioneer the new system, which will be linked wirelessly via transmitters.

Portsmouth became the first UK town to introduce a blanket 20mph limit on all residential roads; Norwich and York are now also set to follow suit.

The new Specs3 system can communicate wirelessly and will be able to keep tabs on your average speed in up to a 15-mile radius

Whats next, tracking built into all bikes so when you exceed the national speed limit the bike cuts out??? Leaving you stranded at the roadside waiting for your friendly mounted boys in blue? You know the ones that ride around in packs exceeding the speed limits in the interest of public safety...........................RANT ON

For those out there looking for a new challenge, to lose weight or to just learn something new then have you thought about Taekwon Do? Hear is my Taekwon Do Training Diary as it is a great thing to take up. Great excercise, ethos as well as self defense.

This also reminds me when they were talking of abolishing tax on petrol and road tax there was talk of all vehicles having a track box and then tax would be based on the roads you ride and time of day so that those that cause congestion pay the most. This I think has some benefits except for all those damn companies insist on people working at the same time BigGrin

Other major problem about it though is if they know where you are and when you are then they know WHAT SPEED YOU ARE!!!! Big brother.

I want to go faster, I want to go faster..

If they do start to charge by the mile, then I can see a big market for older bikes, which might not be able to have these boxes fitted, or just not fitted because they have been off the road due to refurbishmnet projects etc. These will I am sure attract a premium.
Any one for a Bantam?
