After successfully organising and running the first, or second round of the British Solo Championship for many years, the progressive Sidcup Club feel that it’s "time for change", so on March the 28th they will be running a round of the exciting Maxxis British Sidecar Motocross Championship at its popular Canada Heights International Motocross course near Swanley, Kent. This, they feel, will offer local spectators and enthusiasts the chance to watch something different for a change on this challenging circuit and more than make up for the lack of a major solo round this year in the area.
The event will feature all the finest sidecar competitors in the country, as well as a superb entry of expert solos and a full race programme. The three wheel brigade are renowned for giving the public great value for money and the combination of the fearless riders and the demanding circuit will keep spectators on their toes and provide them with an excellent day’s racing. There are few sports where the public can really get as close to all the action as Motocross and even fewer courses that are so challenging and exciting to watch, with so many excellent viewing points. You are also welcome to wander round the paddock and examine all the machinery and chat to the riders as they prepare their outfits.
As this will be one of the first events of the season, competitors will be keen to ride hard and produce good results and get an early advantage, so the racing will be hard fought and close. For anyone who has not visited Canada Heights before, the facilities are good, with plenty of flat parking places to leave your car and a bike parking area too. The vantage points can easily be accessed by numerous tunnels under the track for the public, as course access is not permitted. You need not go hungry either, as the club’s caterers are on hand with a variety of hot food and snacks available. Unlike the British Solo Championship, which can be rather expensive for a family, the entry is only £10 for an adult and children under 14 go free, so it will not hit your pocket too hard for such a prestige event.
The activities commence at 9.30 with practice and timed training, and racing at 12.00 noon. Canada Heights can easily be found in Button Street, just off the A20, not far from the M25/A20, Swanley junction and will be sign posted.
Give yourself a treat and be there.
